About
I've been reading books for as long as I can remember, and some of my earliest memories are of either going to the library with school or of my father reading to me. I've always been drawn to Sci-Fi and Fantasy genres, and I never stopped wishing I'd somehow spontaneously develop magical powers. Books are a way to escape, to feed the imagination, and they're a way of seeing yourself in wonderful, out of this world situations. This is why I also strongly believe in diversity in fiction. I'm bisexual myself, and seeing the rise in stories where the protagonists are LGBTQ has meant everything to me.
Back when I was at university I managed a tumblr called lgbtmediarepresentation which had a heavy focus on books. Although life and work got in the way of my ability to continue to update the blog, my love of books and representation in those books never went away. These days I read as much as I can, and I always try to look for the books that show a wider variety of people in them. Part of what I want to achieve with this blog is to help direct people to more diverse fiction, and to support the authors who write it for us. The easiest way to get in contact with me is to message me on tumblr, at my poetry blog poemsforpersephone. You can also email me at [email protected]. |
